My Photographs
My first full-time job in photography was that of a photo assistant to photographers in London, England and New York. My second full-time job in the medium was as a photojournalist in rural South Carolina. Everything that happens in big cities happens in small towns and deeply rural places—my first assignment was a murder scene. Since then I have won awards for my work, shown in solo and group shows, and shoot freelance work. I have parlayed my experience as a professional photographer into my current position as an art educator at one of the US’ top public high schools, Academic Magnet high school in Charleston,SC by creating a film and digital photography program from scratch.
My favorite things to photograph are everything. I still approach the medium with the curiosity I developed as a news photographer. I am awed by the still image's power to tell a story or inspire change.
I shoot all formats of film from 35mm to 4x5" sheet. I also enjoy using digital cameras, polaroids, and expired photo paper.
